Breastfeeding is so much more than just feeding your baby. Breastfeeding, provides the perfect scenario
for total nurturing, meeting not only your baby’s need for food, but his need for warmth, touch and for security. Breastfed babies are not only protected against many infections in infancy, but are also at lower risk of allergies, asthma, obesity, type 1 diabetes mellitus, cancer, ulcerative colitis & many other diseases often right through into later life. Breastfed babies are enabled to reach their full IQ potential. It is well recognised that interventions and use of medications used during labour & birth impact on the early initiation of breastfeeding. After a gentle, unmedicated birth, babies do not have to be taught how to breastfeed. When left skin to skin on the mother’s chest following a natural birth, babies can follow their own instincts & self attach to the breast as nature intended. This is the beginning of an amazing relationship between mother & baby. Christine trained as a nurse & midwife in the UK. She has a Graduate Diploma in Childbirth Education, is a Certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner, and was the first in Malaysia to qualify as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is passionate in her endeavours to help mothers achieve as natural a birth as possible & to breastfeed their babies. To this end she has been working with expectant & new parents in Malaysia for more than 20 years & with breastfeeding mothers for over 25 years. Christine & her husband (who is a practising obstetrician) have 3 children & 1 baby grandson. “Continue doing your positive work in Malaysia. You make such a difference in the work you do. Thanks for teaching me the benefits of natural birth & extended breastfeeding...” Christina Schmit Forward by Dr. Koe Swee Lee.
